3-IN-1 Multifunction:  Magnesium rod, scraper striker, compass and emergency whistle (whistle isn’t that good as I wouldn’t use it)

This is not only small, lightweight and stylish but an essential piece of any survival, outdoor and fire starter kit - waterproof, durable and easy to use for perfect fire making. 

  Magnesium rod: length 2.75inch/7cm, diameter 0.3inch/0.8cm, 12,000+ strikes. This tool produces a fairly hot spark and should ignite dry items such as pieces of toilet paper, dry leaves and many items found in the wilderness. Just make sure the items are thin and on the small size. Crumbling items and rolling them in your hands will make its edges thin and soft which can greatly increase one’s rate of success. You may be able to dry out  slightly damp tinder by rolling on dry clothing for a short time.

-Prepare your chosen tinder. Scrape off the coating of an area  of the ferro rod to get sparks. Hold the flint striker against the top of the flint rod at a 45° angle. Scrape with the black striker, or small knife edge (provided) down the ferrocerium rod, with rapid even movements. Allow sparks to fall onto tinder. The harder you press down with the striker the larger the sparks. Slower may be better and safer when using a very sharp striker so one does not cut themself. Tip: If your tinder moves, simply hold the sharp scraper near your tinder, and slide the ferro rod toward you.Transfer tinder to fire lay when burning evenly. Slowly add larger kindling so as not to smother the flame.
